PLASTIC & RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY
ROTATIONS & CALL SCHEDULE
Hand Surgery Rotation
Combined plastic surgery and orthopedic
experience gives the hand surgery resident
a broad perspective on surgery of the
hand. Clinics are staffed by experienced
orthopedic and plastic surgery trained
hand surgeons. Residents see and treat
common hand problems in addition to microvascular
and flap reconstruction, brachial plexus
injuries, and reconstruction for the
paralyzed extremity including tendon
and muscle transfer.
The hand resident
is encouraged to attend any of the
hand surgery practices in the community
as well as the hand journal club and
VA tetraplegia clinic and OR.
Community Plastic Surgery Rotation
An exceptional variety of aesthetic
and reconstructive procedures is available
with MCV and community based plastic
surgeons. We have established working
relationships with many of the community
hospitals including Chippenham, Henrico
Doctors, Johnston-Willis, Retreat and
St. Mary's.
Exposure to smaller
office based practices will offer the
community resident valuable insight into
office setup and office-based surgical
procedures.
Call Schedule
Residents are on call approximately
every fourth night and every fourth weekend.
