Current research interests include:

Functional outcomes and quality of life after gastric bypass surgery; continuing studies of complications their recognition and avoidance.

Functional outcome and quality of life following restorative proctocolectomy; role of nitric oxide and bile acids in colorectal cancer apoptosis.

MITAC is a NASA sponsored research partnership to develop, evaluate, and promote information and medical technologies for space flight and ground applications.

Extension of a 5 year RO1 investigating the role of endogenous serotonin in intestinal transport. A NIH-funded study for 20 years.

Establishing a laparoscopic curriculum for general surgery residents.
